2025-2026 Home to School Connections – Week 25

Hello Eagles,

As many of you know, I had a doctor’s appointment on Wednesday of  this week.  Unfortunately, the MRI results were not what we hoped.  The doctor said I will need surgery to address the injury and damage to my ankle and Achilles.

In slightly better news, the surgery could happen as soon as next week.  The doctor anticipates a six-week recovery, and I am sincerely hoping for that.  In the meantime, the district and I are working on a coverage plan for the time I will be out.  As soon as that has been finalized, I will share it with you.

I want to thank everyone for their continued kind words and support; it has truly helped me to process all of this.  I will continue to check my email as much as possible.

On a more positive note, I want to thank all of you who have taken the time to complete the Parent LCAP survey over the last several weeks.  Your feedback is key as we begin to look at data that will help us determine what our schoolwide goals will be for the next school year.  We cannot determine these goals without your help, so thanks for the attention you gave to completing the survey.

We hope that as many of you as possible can make it to the Family Dance Party being thrown by our PTC on Friday, 2/13, in our cafeteria from 6:30-8:00pm.  There will be music, lights, refreshments and fun.  Please come on out and have a great time with your student and the rest of the Pioneer community.

As we enter February, we begin our preparations all around campus to make sure our English Language Learner students are ready for this year’s ELPAC.  We had a Professional Development day for teachers recently on this topic and teachers have started to put these strategies to use in the classroom.  In addition, our FSA, Ms. Gina Pacaldo, has planned a series of parent presentations to help you learn how to support your students at home to take the ELPAC and be reclassified as an fluent English speaker.  If you are interested in attending one of the presentations please take a look at the flyer.

One final reminder, please remember that Monday, 2/16, is President’s Day and there is NO SCHOOL that day.
