Principal’s Corner

Welcome back to the 2022-23 School Year

There will be some new staff at Pioneer this year! Please help us welcome Ms. Lisa Mata, our Assistant Principal! We are also thrilled to have the following new staff members: Ms. Kelsey Moran (Media Specialist), Ms. Karen Stock and Ms. Fernanda Vera (psychologists), Ms. Mary Valenteros (first grade teacher), Ms. Nancy Santiago (MTSS Teacher), Ms. Pallavi, Ms. Simranpreet Kaur, and Mr. Henry Fong (paraprofessionals). On behalf of our entire staff, we welcome returning families and new families!

Our Assistant Principal, Ms. Lisa Mata, and I are honored to work beside a dedicated and kind staff. We always begin by reflecting on the successes and challenges of the past and then create new goals for our future. Having a growth mindset, learning through mistakes, and persevering through difficult moments is the key to achieving academic success. By combining our efforts and supporting our children in these endeavors together, they will be well prepared for college, career, and life.

This school year, we continue to work on developing a robust Social Emotional Learning Program. PBIS, Kimochi, Character Strong, Restorative Justice, and Mindfulness are some of the programs we use to support the social-emotional development of our students.

We are also a school that believes in personalized learning and creating opportunities for students to develop their academic skills! As a learning community, we appreciate the partnership of our Parent Teacher Club (PTC), parent-run Art Vista Parent Group, our School Site Council (SSC), and our English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC)! We continue to deeply appreciate the support from the Pioneer community. As always we invite you to stay informed by checking our website and other social media sources like Facebook and Instagram. If you haven’t signed up for Parent Square Communication, please do so! We will be sending a weekly Home School Connection Newsletter to keep you informed of school events.

Together let’s celebrate the sounds of hope, optimism, and enthusiasm for an outstanding year ahead!
